Whether we will adopt again is often a topic of conversation in our home. The girls especially are always wanting us to bring more orphans home. And Kaden keeps saying he needs more brothers. Kevin said he didn't feel called to pursue another adoption, but if the Lord laid a child before us, we would not say no, without praying.
Two weeks ago, we got a call out of the blue asking if our family would consider giving a little 8 year old girl from China a family and a home. We prayed earnestly and could not come up with any reasons for saying no (other than our fears and selfishness). And so we have said YES!!
Xiao Yu, whom we will call Mia, is the newest member of the Semlow family. We are working urgently on our homestudy and paperwork. (For those of you who speak China adoption paperwork language, we have submitted our LOI and have received our PA.) We hope to travel to China within 8-9 months to bring her home.
What an adventure! What a blessing! Isn't she beautiful?!

She is a beautiful addition to your family. Congratulations.
Simply amazing!
Congratulations!! What an incredible story--very exciting! When I saw her picture I was stunned, my daughter (adopted at 2 from Ukraine--but half Korean) was born with 'complex syndactylism' aka nearly the exact same hand as your daughter :) She's had two hand surgeries, just to get a thumb and bit manipulating. Prior to surgery she held things in the crook of her arm, does much better now, still not five digits, but able to pick up very small things, surprises me all of the time!
Her hand was honestly no biggie--if you'd like to chat more email me. congrats again!!
