Well no 171H yet ...
There has, however, been LOTS of activity at our agency:
Congratulations to four families who received referrals on Friday. It was a fun and exciting day on our Yahoo Group! I've attached links for those that have blogs if you want to check them out.
The Gibsons received a 3 1/2 month old girl
The Ducommons received a 6 week old baby girl
The Coxs received received a baby boy
The Ords received a 2 year old boy
There are also four families who left on Friday to travel to Ethiopia to pick up their children. Please pray for them over the next week. Two of these families have blogs if you want to follow their journey - the Coens and Harbaughs.
In addition, Brian Luwis, the CEO of AWAA (our agency) and Duni Zenaye, the director of the Ethiopia program for AWAA, traveled to Ethiopia this past week. Here's a status update we received on the trip:
I’m currently in Addis Ababa! What a wonderful city, with beautiful people! The coffee is fantastic too – I can’t get enough macchiatos. I’ve been running around like crazy since I landed yesterday morning: I’ve had two full days of meetings and events. The transitional home and staff are very impressive. I’m continually amazed at how God provides great staff for AWAA, not only in VA, but across the US and in other countries.
The primary thing I want to blog about is the idea of adopting an older child. I’ve seen many beautiful children between the ages of 2-15 that are available for adoption. Many of these children were born into families and lived with those families for a period of time, until poverty or disease prevented these families from staying together. I think the majority of these children will transition very well into families in the United States. I hope that the families in process and the future families in process will consider an older child as they also consider infant children.
I have a few more meetings here in Addis and then my next stop is Kigali, Rwanda. Please pray for my meeting with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion and a few of the other meetings I have while I’m there.
Again, I’m very impressed with our Ethiopian staff and the well-run transitional home. I know the families waiting for referrals and the travel group next week will share this same enthusiasm.
It's great to know this program is developing so well and exciting to see referrals and children being brought home. We continue to humbly wait on our Lord to bring home our little one in His timing.
