Just a quick post before we head out for the day.
Each day we see Mia open up a little more. She is speaking a few words here and there with us, but mostly saves her chattiness for when we are with Connie our guide and her friend Annie Grimm.
We ventured over the bridge and off the island yesterday. We had lunch at McDonalds, which tasted very much like home. Mia got her first ice cream since being with us, and was very happy. The walk there was fascinating, as we walked through the spice markets (if that's what you call where they sell dried lizards, mushrooms, and other such things) and through the pet market. They were quite a sight to take in, but that will have to wait for another post.
Today we head to visit Mia's orphanage, foster home, and finding place. It is a 3 hour drive to the orphanage and then another 1 to the foster home, so a full day with lots of car time.
Davis's - I have been praying since I woke up that God with grant us the blessing of loving on your Olivia today. We will do best to get pictures and an update when we get back late tonight.

I love, love, love, the pics of Mia and Corrine! How fun to watch the big sister with the little one. Can't wait to see Olivia on the Josh, Aaron and Zach's backs like that. She looks so happy. I am so thankful to the Lord she is warming up little by little. He will be faithful to complete this work he has begun. Praying you will get to see our precious Olivia and love on her a little. I am tearing up just thinking about it. So thankful you are going to get to go and hopefully make a connection. I will be praying the trip goes well and that Mia does well going back! Looking forward to seeing your post tomorrow. I will probably be gone in the morning, but will try and check in sometime in the afternoon at CC! Can't wait!
Semlows,
We are so pleased to know that Mia is beginning to open up more and more. We love looking at the pictures.
We were showing the kids the blog and looking back at the pictures in the past blogs. Josh loved the picture of Mia on the dog. Isn't that the one that is near Lucy's. If memory serves, there is a "fat American" walking that dog! That was our joke when we were there since it is in front of the restaurant that caters to Americans on the island.
Did you have trouble at McDonalds? We had to point at everything and they still gave us all cokes to drink regardless of what we ordered! Sarah Beth loved the french fries and then she loved Dove bars from the Seven Eleven.
Such fond memories. Wish we were there with you. The kiddos are begging for another Chinese sister which I am sure will send Corinne on a mission. She looks sweeter each picture you post. Cannot wait to see more. Love you!
